Program Description

Winnewald Day Camp enrolls campers from five to twelve years of age. Flexible groups for programming are as follows: Coed combined five year olds; campers six through twelve are grouped according to gender and grade. Current twelve-year-olds may continue as thirteen-year-olds the following season. The size of the group, the maturity of the child, as well as friends is often considered. Programming attempts to meet the developmental needs and interests of each age group.

The general program schedule for campers is as follows:

9:00 – 9:30    Group activities and conversation time.

9:30 – 9:45    Opening ceremony.

9:45 – 12:00   Swimming lesson, Arts & Crafts, electives, and active game.

12:00 – 1:00   Lunch and Recess

1:00 – 3:30    Camper groups 5-6 have story time.

All groups have recreational swim, nature, camper choice (computers,

Fishing, archery), music, and camp special events.

3:30 – 3:45    Organize for dismissal and debriefing.

3:45 – 4:00    Closing ceremony.

Camper cookouts are scheduled for all groups. Campers 5-7 have two cookouts prepared by their counselors. Camper groups 8, 10-13 cook their own lunch over open fires. Campers age 9 have a cookout the day after the overnight campout. Each camper group 7-12 is scheduled for a fishing trip and hike on or off the premises. In addition, trips are also taken and may include a baseball game, bowling, museums, miniature golf, and tubing.
